DIY Pillow Cover Wtih Zipper

It's only 9 o'clock and I'm already having one of those days..if you know what I mean. Couldn't be more excited that the weekend is within sight. I am so ready. So as promised today will be the tutorial on how to sew a pillow cover with a zipper. Yes, for you beginners I said the dreaded "Z word". But guess what? It is way easier than I ever thought it was going to be. Remember how I am a beginner as well? I wouldn't lie to you people. If I can do it you definitely can.
For sewing tips for you beginners that want a little extra encouragement before starting this project, check out this post.

What You Will Need:

1 yard fabric
Thread to match fabric
Rotary cuter/ scissors
All purpose zipper 4 inches shorter than your fabric
Tape measure
Iron
Seam ripper
Sewing machine
Straight pins

When I was learning how to do this I watched this video below..because I am no expert. I am going to recommend you also do the same. It was extremely helpful!

The only thing the video leaves out that is REALLY really important to remember is that after your zipper is in place remember to open your zipper before you sew your remaining three sides. Otherwise, you will have to be able to perform some awesome magic trick to be able to turn your pillow cover right side out.

For other simple tips to help you beginners out before sewing your cover check out my other post specifically about tips for your pillow covers.
